banishing

Habit Severance Cord-Cutting

not the dramatic kind of cutting-loose. the quiet, decided kind.

she wants

release a specific habit or attachment you've outgrown

she casts on

waning moon
Saturday
saturn hour

what you gather

  • ·a length of black or red string, about a foot
  • ·scissors set aside just for this
  • ·a black candle
  • ·a small piece of paper naming the habit

the working

  1. Iwrite the habit's name on the paper. Be specific — not 'bad choices,' but the actual thing.
  2. IItie one end of the string to something representing you (a ring, a photo, your own wrist temporarily) and the other end loosely to the paper.
  3. IIIlight the black candle.
  4. IVspeak the incantation, then cut the string with the scissors in one motion.
  5. Vburn the paper in the candle's flame (in a fire-safe dish).
  6. VIdispose of both string pieces separately — one in the trash, one buried or scattered outdoors.

she speaks

"This served a version of me who needed it. I don't need it anymore. The cord is cut. I keep walking."

she expects

A felt sense of completion, useful as a ritual marker for a decision you've already made — this working supports change you're choosing, it does not do the changing for you.
